A very popular resort for people seeking good skiing mixed with evening entertainment. From here you are
able to ski 3 mountains only 15-30 minutes away.
There's much to see in Lillehammer Town should you wish to take a break from skiing.
Stunning mountains, peaceful valleys and a generally unspoiled natural environment make Lillehammer
one of the world's great winter sport havens. Lillehammer is the oldest of the inland towns of Eastern Norway and is placed at the northern end of lake Mjøsa. It is known as the gateway to the Gudbrandsdal valley, the town is of a moderate size yet offers a richness of entertainment and nightlife.
Lillehammer is known worldwide as it was the host to the 1994 Winter Olympics
and as such boasts an enviable mix of shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, swimming pool, cinema and cultural highlights. Lillehammer offers excellent evening entertainment through its selection of clubs and bars giving an excellent opportunity to unwind after a day on the slopes. Norwegian Wood Travel have been able to secure discounts for its customers with Felix Pub and Scene and Blamann Restaurant (please ask for details).
The action on the slopes takes place at nearby Hafjell, Kvitfjell and Skei. Hafjell is an
Olympic facility offering a great many
activities, whilst further north, Kvitfjell provides one of the worlds most challenging downhill runs. With these venues being so close to hand your requirements can be met with ease, especially as the lift passes are valid at all three locations, providing the best flexibility for your holiday.
The Ski runs offer near perfect conditions and slopes for all types of beginners from skiers to snow boarders, the runs are long, wide and uncrowded. For inter-mediates and advanced the efficient lift system means queuing is virtually unheard of making for non-stop skiing, you can even experience the thrill of using several of the runs used as downhill events during the 1994 Olympics. For snow boarders there is a separate area complete with mega jumps, half-pipes, quarter-pipes, fun box and slides.
In the Olympic Park can be found Ski Jumping Tower, Hakons Hall (multi purpose sports arena), Olympic Museum and a thrill not to be missed is a trip down the slopes on the ski buggies at Kanthaugen Freestyle arena. The Olympic experience can be felt through The Downhill and Bob Simulator.
Using technology usually reserved for astronauts and pilots you are able to experience both Downhill and Bobsleigh the way the 1994 Olympians did. For those who wish to take the thrills a little further The Lillehammer Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track offers a thrilling experience. The only artificially cooled track in Scandinavia measures 1710m in length with a drop of 114m and includes 16 curves. The track can be completed by a number of methods all guaranteed to entertain
thrill seekers of any age.
